Join us for an interactive two-days event to gain state-of-the-art knowledge around scaling through paper presentations by top academics and engage in workshops and roundtables with our community of entrepreneurs, academics and industry experts. Rotterdam School of Management (RSM) and Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship (ECE) are honoured to host the third edition of the European Scaleup Conference in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, on June 2-3! Part of the two-day conference is the special track 'Scaling in Transition', only on the afternoon of the 2nd of June and focusing on three themes: Energy Transition, Digital, and Glass Value Chain. The special track will have Mastermind Roundtables for startup and scaleup entrepreneurs working in those themes, next to an inspiring panel and keynote. Plan your visit to the ESI Conference in Rotterdam, The Netherlands
-
1 Getting from/to Rotterdam by train
- Rotterdam is extremely accessible by train. Located at the Stationsplein, Rotterdam Centraal is the main train station in the city. To get to Rotterdam Central from your place of departure, find a yellow ticket machine and enter the appropriate information to buy your train ticket to Rotterdam. If you have an OV chipcard, simply scan your card at your starting destination and once more while leaving the station in Rotterdam. NS (the Dutch train service) also takes all International credit cards for payment. This works in the same way as the OV chipcards. From the station, follow the signs to continue your journey via bus, tram or metro.
-
2 Getting from/to Rotterdam from Rotterdam / The Hague Airport
- To get to Rotterdam The Hague Airport the best mode of transportation are the trams. Many lines run through the city and converge at Rotterdam Centraal Station. This makes the station the perfect boarding point to take the tram. The trams are located just outside of the station. Head to platform AA where you can take tram 33 straight to Rotterdam The Hague Airport. This tram leaves every 15 minutes and the ride is roughly 20 minutes long.
-
3 Getting from/to Rotterdam from Schiphol Airport
- From Schiphol Airport Rotterdam is reached easiest by train. By regular train it takes about 50 minutes, or you can take the “InterCity Direct” to Rotterdam Central Station (every 20-30 minutes), which will take about 25 minutes. At the airport, follow the signs to the trains, tickets are available at the yellow machines in case you don’t have an OV chipcard. When you are travelling with the InterCity Direct, you need to buy a supplement ticket required between Schiphol and Rotterdam; include it directly if you buy a ticket at the machine, or if you have an OV chipcard there are special red poles at the platform. If you are planning to come by taxi, the trip takes about 45 minutes (without traffic jams) and is around € 150 (cheaper if you book online). At the airport, follow the signs to the taxis or book in advance: https://www.schiphol.nl/en/page/by-taxi-to-and-from-schiphol/

4 How to pay for public transportation
- You can either buy separate tickets at the machines at the station or you can buy an (anonymous) OV chipcard, which can be re-used and topped up with credit at the same machines where you can buy separate tickets. For more information:
